Niagara-on-the-Lake is located approximately 30 kms from Niagara Falls. Along the Niagara River is the Heritage Trail which features the Laura Secord Homestead, Fort George, McFarland House along with other historical points of interest.
John's Gate Gourmet Bed and Breakfast is located in the historical old town of Niagara on the Lake. This custom-built pre-Victorian style bed and breakfast is walking distance to the shopping on Queen Street, Shaw Festival theatres, restaurants, spas and a winery or two. Guests may walk to the spa facilities at the Pillar and Post. Drive to any of the golf courses, wineries, Niagara Falls, Casino Niagara, Fallsview Casino and Resort, Butterfly Conservatory, Horticultural Gardens, MarineLand and Game Farm, Antique and Boutique shops, dozens of museums and many more attractions.
Niagara on the Lake offers the world famous Shaw Festival, where plays written by George Bernard Shaw, the Irish playwright, and his contemporaries like Oscar Wilde, are shown daily.
The Niagara Parkway has one of the nicest bicycle paths. This path starts in Niagara on the Lake and takes you past the Falls along the Niagara River to Fort Erie - yes, to the US border. There are numerous bicycle trails. Ask us for bicycle route maps to the wineries, or just for the Niagara Region. Horse-back riding, jetboating, helicopter rides and walking trails are also available. During season, pick your own apples, peaches, strawberries, pears and cherries from the Niagara Region farms.
The Niagara Region is a wine lovers paradise. Tourists may take guided tours or visit the many wineries on their own. Spend a day biking through the vineyards and dine at casual or gourmet restaurants. Take advantage of the festivals organized by the Wineries of Niagara on the Lake. For special winery events,
activities, tastings and dinners held at the wineries, please check our calendar for Winery Events.
Take a wine tour and savour the taste of wines from the Niagara Region.
John's Gate Gourmet Bed and Breakfast welcomes everyone regardless of race, sex, creed and colour.
